What is a rights issue?

by NexGen Trading Academy  ·  Unit 50 of 100

A rights issue is a method through which a company offers additional shares to its existing shareholders before making them available to the general public. Eligible shareholders receive the opportunity to purchase these shares, usually at a predetermined price and within a specified time period. Rights issues are commonly used by companies to raise additional capital.
